This beautiful pair of 19th century side chairs feature elaborately carved and molded tall, pierced backs; low newly-upholstered seats; and low turned legs. They are made of solid Walnut. Please note they are NOT a perfectly matched pair: the applied carvings and carved patterns are extremely similar, but not identical. They are both finely detailed with characteristics that are sometimes classified as prayer chairs and often described as Gothic.
Their low height is in keeping with Victorian slipper chairs. NOTE: please request whatever other specific photo you would like to see and/or questions and we will get right back to you. DIMENSIONS: one set of dimensions is provided given their similarity - please regard them as approximate. Depth from Wall: 18.5.Height of Back Alone: 27. Width of Back Alone: 16.5. Seat Height from Floor: 15.5. Are fully intact, solid, strong and structurally sound. One chair has a missing finial and only one is equipped with original castors on the front feet.
As the photos depict, the legs and seat frames have plenty of minor nicks, scuffs and surface damage from age and wear. They were newly upholstered with a medallion tapestry print in February of 2017 and have been in storage since. As you'll note from the photos, one chair shows considerably more wear than the other. These chairs are clean and odor-free. Please study the photos carefully as they are the MOST important part of this description.
